Thanks to Open Data Classroom I have managed to acquire knew practical knowledge about data analysis and, more specifically, about a tool that is so important nowadays – Microsoft Power BI. Right from the beginning the training offered has a practical and self-taught focus at all times. Furthermore, the most enriching part for me was the possibility to choose the project, so that we were able to work with projects adapted to our personal tastes. In my case, I decided to focus my project towards discovering the environment of the districts of Bizkaia, with the aim of carrying out an analysis of the depopulation of the province and its causes. I believe that this practical experience has improved my chances in the job market given that, since finishing it I have found work in a company which places a high value on the knowledge of new technology.

My experience in the Open Data Classroom Bilbao-Bizkaia has had many benefits. Firstly, the knowledge and learning about open data has allowed me to understand the importance of reusing it in order to take full advantage of all the information we can glean and generate from it – improvements in different public sectors, focused on society’s satisfaction, and new businesses that generate economic growth and foment technological innovation. On the other hand, the participants in the Classroom have received training in the use of data treatment tools, in this case Power BI, and all its characteristics have meant that I have been able to carry out my final Degree project, providing me with a visual and graphic support of what I wanted to represent. Furthermore, knowledge of these kinds of tools, such as Power BI, enables the students who are trained in this Classroom to enter the job market with additional skills, such as being able to use tools that are currently highly utilised in large companies. I would definitely recommend that students participate in the Classroom, especially those within the organisational field, since it provides new knowledge, projects are carried out, and with the help of other classmates you are able to learn everything possible about the aforementioned subject. I am very happy with the experience and what I learnt.
